Meet Dr. Baer
Marvin (Max) Baer, DDS, MSc
Dr. Baer earned his DDS degree from the University of Texas Dental School, Houston, Texas. Upon graduation he entered the US Air Force. During his career in the Air Force he earned his Master of Science degree in Prosthodontics at Ohio State University. He also completed a two year residency in Prosthodontics at Malcolm Grow USAF Medical Center, Washington, DC. Upon retirement in 1985 as a full Colonel he accepted a position at the University of Maryland Dental School. During his time at the dental school he developed the undergraduate dental implant program. He also directed an honors program in restorative and cosmetic dentistry and dental implants.
Dr. Baer is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and the only board certified prosthodontist in private practice in the Baltimore area.
He presently divides his time between private practice and Johns Hopkins Hospital where he supports the Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery Department in the prosthetic rehabilitation of cancer patients as well as the treatment of other prosthodontic patients.
His honors include the Legion of Merit, US Air Force. He was elected as a Fellow, American College of Dentists, a Fellow, International College of Dentists. He is a Life Fellow , American College of Prosthodontists and a Life Member of the American Dental Association. Dr. Baer is also a member of the Academy of Osseointgration, the premier international organization devoted to the study of dental implants.
He has four grown children and he is busy being a father to a seven year old son, Dylan. He is also a level one ski instructor certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America. He teaches skiing on weekends at Ski Liberty near Gettysburg Pennsylvania. His son Dylan is his favorite ski buddy.
